2019 Ram 1500 Named Edmunds’ 2019 Best Family Truck

In the competitive full-size truck segment, the new 2019 Ram 1500 shines. This past May, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 earned the 2019 Best Family Truck Award from Edmunds, recognizing the truck’s dependable performance, upscale comfort, and array of cutting-edge technologies.

Trucks are very versatile, meeting needs on the worksite and on the road with the family. As Alistair Weaver, the editor-in-chief at Edmunds, stated, “A truck as a family car makes sense when you drive the Ram 1500 – especially if your family is outdoorsy and has lots of toys.”

To determine the winners of Edmunds’ prestigious best family vehicle awards, Edmunds editors comprehensively test 300 vehicles. The vehicles are scored in over 30 categories – including performance, interior, tech, and value – and the highest-scoring vehicle is named the winner.

According to Weaver, “With reclining rear seats, class-leading legroom, and an exclusive coil-spring rear suspension, the Ram 1500 outclasses many traditional SUVs in comfort and luxury.”

The all-new Ram 1500 is thoughtfully designed. It offers an array of diverse powertrain options – including V6 and V8 configurations – that feature cutting-edge efficiency technology like the eTorque mild hybrid system. Alongside efficiency, the Ram 1500 offers exceptional capability, achieving a max towing capacity of 12,750 pounds and a max payload rating of 2,300 pounds.

Inside the cabin, the Ram 1500 features sophisticated comfort and tech, coming with a standard Uconnect 4C system with a 12-inch touchscreen display and standard smartphone integration technology. To keep you feeling confident while transporting your family, the Ram 1500 offers an array of state-of-the-art safety features.

Jeep® Gladiator Hercules Model Could Be in the Works

Late in 2018, Jeep® finally revealed the 2020 Gladiator, a ruggedly handsome pickup truck that offers best-in-class capabilities. We here at Transwest Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram didn’t think it could get much better than the Gladiator – until now. Recently, the rumor mill has been turning and it looks like there might be a high-performance version of the Gladiator in the works – and it will be called the Hercules.

Previously, during the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mark Allen, Jeep®‘s head of design, mentioned that a high-speed off-road vehicle would be on the brand’s agenda for its future lineup. While the Jeep® Gladiator Hercules model hasn’t officially been signed off just yet, it looks like prototypes of the performance pickup truck are being built for testing.

If the Hercules does come to life, we can only speculate at its power. It will have to offer more power than the Gladiator’s standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which currently puts out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Gladiator Hercules will also probably utilize a variety of Mopar aftermarket parts to give it even more aggressive styling.

Should this vehicle come to market, it will compete with the Ford Ranger Raptor.

While the Hercules is just a rumor at this point, you’ll soon be able to check out the Jeep Gladiator at Transwest Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram.
