5 Tailgating Tips to Help Make Your Experience Even Better

There’s nothing like tailgating before a big sporting event, whether it’s your high school’s homecoming game or your favorite pro team. Here are some tailgating tips to make sure you have the best experience possible on the big day.

    1. Be prepared. Prepare as much as you possibly can before you leave for the game to make sure that you’re not forgetting everything. Make lists and check them twice, and you’ll be able to enjoy yourself that much more when you arrive.
    2. Turn one of your coolers into a warming oven. If you’ve already cooked some items and don’t feel like re-heating them when you arrive at your destination, then use bricks, wet towels, aluminum foil, and a bit of heat from your oven beforehand to turn your cooler into a warming oven.
    3. Don’t forget the tunes. Creating an exciting atmosphere is difficult unless you have some top-notch music. Pump up the volume with portable speakers to prepare yourself for the big game.
    4. Bring a large plastic tub for dirty dishes. Even if you’re using disposable plates and utensils, it’s likely you will still have some dirty dishes to clean up after the game is over. Bring a large plastic tub specifically to put dirty dishes into so you don’t have to worry about getting everything else in your car messy.
    5. Remember to show your pride. You want to celebrate your home team, right? Make sure you’re loud and proud about who you’re supporting in the big game, whether you’re at your son’s high school match or a professional stadium. Streamers, banners, and more are great ways to do just that – and easy to clean up!

2019 Ram 1500 Earns Title of Overall Best Family Car

It comes as no surprise that Fiat Chrysler managed to win more awards than any other manufacturer at the annual Family Car Challenge hosted by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA).

During the event, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 managed to walk away with two awards – the overall Best Family Car title and the Best Family Pickup Truck title for the third consecutive year.

“The GAAMA Family Car Challenge is unique in that we host the only vehicle competition specific to the needs and desires of today’s families,” said Daryl Killian, GAAMA president and host of The AutoNsider on News & Talk 1380 WAOK, a radio station based in Atlanta. “For the third year in a row, our members were impressed with Ram 1500’s combination of technology, functionality, drivability, and family-friendly features.”

The Ram 1500 wasn’t the only Fiat-Chrysler vehicle honored during the awards, though. Both the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid walked away with awards with the title of Best Three-Row Family Car and Best Green Family Car, respectively.

    Best Family Car

In each category, GAAMA members evaluated eligible vehicles for a number of family-focused categories, such as safety, comfort, and practicality. The judges then drove each vehicle around suburban routes close to The Hotel at Avalon in Alpharetta, Georgia, and then scored them.

The 2019 Ram 1500 is available now at Transwest CDJR, so come and take it for a test drive today.

A Brief History of Ram Trucks

Are you a loyal Ram truck driver but unsure of how your favorite brand got its start? Check out the brief history of Ram Trucks.

The Ram Truck Division was not founded until 2010, but Ram trucks have been around here at Transwest Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram and on American roadways much longer. Before Ram became its own subdivision of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, its trucks were simply sold under the Dodge brand as Dodge Ram models.

Dodge’s history of trucks dates back several decades before the 80s, but we will pick up the story in 1981, which is seen as year one for the first-generation of what we think of as the Dodge Ram Truck. Back then, designations were 150, 250, and 350 rather than the 1500, 2500, and 3500 we think of today; those came around in 1994.

In fact, 1994 brought more than just name changes. The style of the pickup changed dramatically in 1994, when they began to take on a “semi-truck” appearance. The 1994 models also introduced the 8.0-liter V10 engines that were immensely popular.

In 2002, Dodge unveiled the third generation of its pickups with new interiors, powertrains, and suspensions. The big change was the introduction of the 5.7-liter HEMI®, which added 100 horsepower to the work truck.

While it took a while for diesel to return to the 1500 segment, the Ram 2500 and 3500 got a turbodiesel engine option as early as 2007. The diesel wouldn’t be offered on the Ram 1500 model until 2014. It is still offered today, making the Ram 1500 the most-efficient pickup in its class.

The year 2010 was an important one for Ram; as mentioned above, this is the year that the truck lineup became its own brand entirely. To mark the occasion, Ram offered new engines, a new suspension, new offerings on the interior, and new styling on the exterior.

In 2012, the Rambox® was made available on all truck options, and 2013 brought a facelift to the lineup. Ram continues to innovate with its pickups, which is why it boasts the most loyal pickup drivers in the country.

So there you have it—a brief history of Ram trucks. Let us know what you think about the brand in the comments below!
