In Colorado, winter can be brutal. If you plan to drive in any snowy or hazardous weather, make sure to pack a winter car emergency kit, which you can store in your trunk or on your backseat. Here’s what you’ll need:
kit: In the event that you become stranded and injured, you should have a
first-aid kit with bandages, scissors, Neosporin, gauze, and protective gloves.
charger and power bank: Your cellphone will be crucial if you become
stranded. Keep a phone charger and portable power bank in your car so you can
charge your phone on the go. Even if you lose service, your phone can double as
You don’t know how long you might be stranded if your car breaks down in the
winter, so pack nonperishable snacks like granola and protein bars, mixed nuts,
and crackers. You should also keep a case of bottled water in the car.
gloves, hats, scarves, and blankets: Keeping warm may very well be the key
to your survival. Pack some extra coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and blankets in
the trunk. Waterproof clothes and blankets are best because they won’t get
soaked with melted snow or ice.
Collapsible shovels, Swiss Army knives, jumper cables, and flares are all
important elements of a winter car emergency kit.
A winter car emergency kit will help you weather the cold weather, but we at Transwest CDJR hope you won’t need to use it this season.
Colder temperatures can cause dangerous road conditions and freezes the cabin so you’re cold when you first jump in the car. To prepare for the oncoming cold, we’ve put together a few reasons why you should get winter ready with Jeep this year.
drive. Jeep is known for its all-wheel-drive capabilities. It’s this rugged
drive system that makes the Jeep brand ideal for the winter. All-wheel drive
will help you accelerate better and maintain traction on snowy or icy roads,
giving more confidence behind the wheel when it’s winter.
Stay warm. There’s
no denying that winter weather can be on the cold side, but Jeep has you
covered. No matter which model you choose, you will find a trim level that has
heated seats, a heated steering wheel, or remote start. That way you won’t have
to worry about feeling like you’re sitting on a block of ice and you can pay
more attention to the road.
Don’t freeze your
engine. Many Jeeps can be equipped with an engine block heater. This will
allow your vehicle to start up and warm faster when the temperatures are
frigid. It could also potentially help you reduce wear on your engine, reduce
emissions, and warm you up faster when you’re waiting for the hot air to come
through the vents.
Get a Jeep so you can pay attention to the beauties of winter without freezing in the car’s cabin. You can stay warm and browse our selection of Jeeps at Transwest CDJR.
Denver: Denver isn’t a far drive from Limon and has plenty to do year-round. If you like breathtaking views and tasty craft beer, Denver is the city for you.
Ouray Ice Park: Have you tried your hand at ice-climbing? Ouray Ice Park is world-famous for it. After the strenuous workout, relax in one of Ouray’s hot-spring spas.
Estes Park: Make Estes Park your destination to try out your snowshoes this winter. Snowshoeing is a cool way to explore the wintry outdoors, and if you don’t have some of your own, you can rent a pair in town. Make reservations in advanced to stay at the infamous Stanley Hotel, which was Steven King’s inspiration for “The Shining.”
Crested Butte: Are you a fan of skiing? The best place in Colorado to try your hand— or feet — at skiing is in Crested Butte. Afterward, enjoy delicious food from the nearby restaurants.
Telluride: Stay in the mountain resort in Telluride for a truly remote Colorado experience. Be prepared though: this former Victorian mining town is a seven-hour drive from Limon.
If you’d like prepare your vehicle for a winter road trip, bring it to Transwest CDJR for seasonal maintenance.

2018 Dodge Durango Engine Lineup
Every Dodge Durango engine is paired with a class-exclusive electronic eight-speed automatic transmission with available steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The standard engine for the Dodge Durango is the classic 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine. Finally, the 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 engine delivers maximum power in the 2018 Dodge Durango. With this engine, the Durango can tow up to 8,700 lbs — a best-in-class distinction. The 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 pounds out 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

There’s nothing like tailgating before a big sporting event, whether it’s your high school’s homecoming game or your favorite pro team. Here are some tailgating tips to make sure you have the best experience possible on the big day.
Be prepared. Prepare as much as you possibly can before you leave for the game to make sure that you’re not forgetting everything. Make lists and check them twice, and you’ll be able to enjoy yourself that much more when you arrive.
Turn one of your coolers into a warming oven. If you’ve already cooked some items and don’t feel like re-heating them when you arrive at your destination, then use bricks, wet towels, aluminum foil, and a bit of heat from your oven beforehand to turn your cooler into a warming oven.
Don’t forget the tunes. Creating an exciting atmosphere is difficult unless you have some top-notch music. Pump up the volume with portable speakers to prepare yourself for the big game.
Bring a large plastic tub for dirty dishes. Even if you’re using disposable plates and utensils, it’s likely you will still have some dirty dishes to clean up after the game is over. Bring a large plastic tub specifically to put dirty dishes into so you don’t have to worry about getting everything else in your car messy.
Remember to show your pride. You want to celebrate your home team, right? Make sure you’re loud and proud about who you’re supporting in the big game, whether you’re at your son’s high school match or a professional stadium. Streamers, banners, and more are great ways to do just that – and easy to clean up!
Of course, if you would like a new vehicle to tailgate with, then make sure to come to Transwest CDJR before you get too far into tailgating season. We will be happy to help you choose the perfect vehicle for you.

Perhaps most exciting is the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica technology offerings, which put this minivan in a class of its own.
Safety technology is abundant in the Chrysler Pacifica, which helped it earn a 2017 Top Safety Pick+ ranking from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Spending time with family on a road trip is always fun, but it can also get a bit boring at times! To help fight boredom, here are three family-friendly road trip games to help keep passengers of all ages entertained while you’re out on the road.
The Name Game. This memory game is a great way to keep passengers of all ages entertained. Begin this by saying a name. The second player must then say another name that starts with the last letter of the previous name. For instance, if the first name is “Al,” then the second player can say “Larry,” and it goes from there. Just remember, there can’t be any repeats!
The License Plate Game. If you’re traveling across the country, this is a great game to entertain the kids. Give each player a pen or pencil and a list of all 50 states. As you drive, players should cross out each state they see – and write down any countries, too. At the end of the drive, the one to have the most states is the winner.
20 Questions. This classic game is great for car rides of any length. Have a passenger think of a person, place, or thing. Then, the rest of the passengers have 20 questions to figure out what it is. Whoever gets it right gets to begin the next round.
If you need to replace the old road trip machine, though, make sure to come to Transwest CDJR — we would be ecstatic to help you find the perfect model for your family.
It comes as no surprise that Fiat Chrysler managed to win more awards than any other manufacturer at the annual Family Car Challenge hosted by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA).
During the event, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 managed to walk away with two awards – the overall Best Family Car title and the Best Family Pickup Truck title for the third consecutive year.
“The GAAMA Family Car Challenge is unique in that we host the only vehicle competition specific to the needs and desires of today’s families,” said Daryl Killian, GAAMA president and host of The AutoNsider on News & Talk 1380 WAOK, a radio station based in Atlanta. “For the third year in a row, our members were impressed with Ram 1500’s combination of technology, functionality, drivability, and family-friendly features.”
The Ram 1500 wasn’t the only Fiat-Chrysler vehicle honored during the awards, though. Both the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid walked away with awards with the title of Best Three-Row Family Car and Best Green Family Car, respectively.
In each category, GAAMA members evaluated eligible vehicles for a number of family-focused categories, such as safety, comfort, and practicality. The judges then drove each vehicle around suburban routes close to The Hotel at Avalon in Alpharetta, Georgia, and then scored them.
The 2019 Ram 1500 is available now at Transwest CDJR, so come and take it for a test drive today.
Few auto brands are as quintessentially American as Jeep®. Its name recognition surpasses that of companies like Ford or Chevrolet, and traces its origins to a military all-terrain vehicle. Since its inception, Jeep® models have been designed to take on any climate, with a capacity for off-road and on-road performance that people can depend on.
While most people think of the Jeep® Wrangler when Jeep®first crosses their minds, the brand’s lineup has only expanded to include other modern and upscale SUVs and crossovers. The family-friendly Jeep® Grand Cherokee, for example, comfortably accommodates all your needs with plenty of space, and models like the Compass and Renegade provide all the versatility and convenience of a small, smart crossover.
However, if the iconic Jeep® Wrangler is more your speed, then good news: it was just redesigned for the next generation for the 2018 model year, giving it more modern comforts and amenities.
A good introduction to Jeep® is certainly to get behind the wheel of one, and here at Transwest CDJR, we have plenty. Make sure to come and visit us soon for a test drive!
