Late in 2018, Jeep® finally revealed the 2020 Gladiator, a ruggedly handsome pickup truck that offers best-in-class capabilities. We here at Transwest Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram didn’t think it could get much better than the Gladiator – until now. Recently, the rumor mill has been turning and it looks like there might be a high-performance version of the Gladiator in the works – and it will be called the Hercules.
Previously, during the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mark Allen, Jeep®‘s head of design, mentioned that a high-speed off-road vehicle would be on the brand’s agenda for its future lineup. While the Jeep® Gladiator Hercules model hasn’t officially been signed off just yet, it looks like prototypes of the performance pickup truck are being built for testing.
If the Hercules does come to life, we can only speculate at its power. It will have to offer more power than the Gladiator’s standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which currently puts out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Gladiator Hercules will also probably utilize a variety of Mopar aftermarket parts to give it even more aggressive styling.
Should this vehicle come to market, it will compete with the Ford Ranger Raptor.
